  • Learning and mapping fluvial landscapes and valley types
  • Pre-mapping landscapes and stream types on aerial photos and topographic maps
  • Field validation of the bankfull stage at a USGS gage station

  • Field methods to properly measure morphological variables and develop dimensionless ratios for assessment and design
  • Stream succession and the central tendency of rivers
  • Reference reach selection and applications
  • Management applications using stream types

COURSE TERMS & CONDITIONS:

Registration & Payment Policy:

Credit card information is required during registration to reserve a spot in all courses.  Credit cards are charged only after confirmed acceptance into a course, and registered participants will be notified via email prior to transactions.  Online registration does not guarantee a spot in a class.  You must wait and receive an email confirmation from Wildland Hydrology stating a Registration Confirmation in each particular course.  All students are required to register through our online registration system.  All course tuition payments will be charged on January 1st of the year attending the short course.  No exceptions.  Arrangements to pay by check can be made (payable to Wildland Hydrology or for all Asheville, NC location classes, paid to Resource Institute – class sponsor), although a credit card is still REQUIRED to reserve a spot.  WE DO NOT ACCEPT purchase orders, SF 182 forms, or electronic transfers.  If paying by company check, Wildland Hydrology must receive your check by no later than January 1st of the year attending the short course.  If no check is received by this date, the student will automatically be dropped from the course.  No exceptions.

Full tuition must be paid by no later than the January 1st of the year attending the short course.  We no longer accept or charge course deposits.  We only charge full course tuition amounts.  The credit card on file will be charged unless an alternative payment is received.  The fee for each course includes the course tuition and course materials only; participants are all responsible for their own food and lodging unless noted otherwise; paid directly to the resort or business; not paid through Wildland Hydrology.  If full payment is not received by January 1st of the year attending the short course, the student will automatically be dropped from the course and we will go to the waitlist to fill this new open spot.  No exceptions.  Students are not allowed to roll their paid tuition to the next year if they cancel from a course.  If they cancel and cannot find a substitute, they will forfeit their paid tuition.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

Cancellations received in writing BEFORE full tuition payments are charged on January 1st of the year attending the short course will not be charged a fee or penalized. No money paid, no money refunded. However, once full tuition is paid, it will not be refunded. No exceptions. Substitutions are encouraged. Students are not allowed to roll their tuition payments to the next year. Once tuition is paid, the student must either attend the course, send a substitute to take their place or forfeit their full tuition paid.

Although rare, Wildland Hydrology reserves the right to cancel a class and refund all tuition payments received. All refunds will be by check only — NO EXCEPTIONS.

Waitlist Policy:

Many classes fill rapidly — for classes that are full, we accept waitlist registrations by completing the registration form (please specify in the comments box any additional classes you wish to be waitlisted for). Credit card information supplied at the time of registration will not be charged for participants placed on a waitlist. If slots become available for the course, Wildland Hydrology will offer admission to all waitlisted registrants. The first person to respond back to WH, will get the open spot. Waitlisted registrants will also be given early email notification to register for classes offered the following year. Wildland Hydrology will not automatically register waitlisted students in the next open class. All students must re-register for the next year's course.
